Jan's Dough: Create Sourdough Starter Recipe

Do yourself a favor---buy a pair of regular 8" scissors and keep them
handy! You'll find a million uses for having scissors close at hand in
the kitchen! I keep my scissors in my butcher block knife holder. I removed one of the larger knives that I use only rarely and keep the scissors in that slot. The scissors fit nicely, and the handles are always up---and ready for you to grab them! You can use scissors for opening cello-bags and other packages. Scissors also come in really handy when you are preparing any type of vegetable that has a stem that needs to be cut off. You can use the scissors to easily snip of ends. This is especially handy for preparing fresh string beans (See Poppo's Steamed String Beans for an easy recipe for fresh steamed string beans!). After each use, clean scissors under hot, running water. Open scissors to their fullest, and set in dish drainer or on a paper towel to dry. When dry, return them to their place in the butcher block knife holder. To avoid confusing your kitchen scissors with other household scissors, buy a pair of scissors that have brightly colored handles---and let everyone know that this pair of scissors is the "Kitchen Scissors Only"! You'll never run out of uses for your Handy Kitchen Scissors! |
